# On December 6th the 2019 EuADS General Assembly took place. Among other topics a new board has been elected.
# EuADS presents a symposium titled “Data for All: Data Science and the Human Factor” which will be held on September 10th in the Chambre de Commerce in Luxembourg. Featured speaker is C. Bishop. The symposium is free, but a registration is require. More information can be found here. It will also be the opening event of the EuADS summer school on explainable data science.
# International data science and analysis conference of the IFCS in Thessaloniki, Greece, 26-29 August 2019.
The IFCS 2019 conference theme is ‘Data Analysis and Rationality in a Complex World’. The conference opening will take place on August 26 late afternoon and pre-conference workshops will be held in the morning. The conference sessions will start on August 27 in the morning, and will close on August 29 with a full day conference program. The conference will include a President’s invited session and a Presidential address, invited presentations, invited and contributed sessions.
# On September 20th 2019 the workshop on Automating Data Science will take place in Würzburg (Germany) as part of the European Conference on Machine Learning and Principles and Practice of Knowledge Discovery in Databases.

# Following on from the European Data Science Conference held in in November 2016 in Luxembourg, the editorial for the follow-on special issue of the Journal for Data Science and Analytics has now been published and is accessible here. The editorial ends with an In Memoriam for Professor Sabine Krolak-Schwerdt, the inaugural President of the European Association for Data Science and the general Chair of EDSC.

Obituary for Sabine Krolak-Schwerdt (20.12.1958-12.12.2017)
On 12 December 2017 Professor Sabine Krolak-Schwerdt passed away. She was 58 years old. Since 2008 Krolak-Schwerdt had a personal chair in Educational Measurement at the Faculty of Language and Literature, Humanities, Arts and Education, University of Luxembourg, Luxembourg and since 2015 she served as founding president of the European Association for Data Science (EuADS). In addition she was a member of the board of the GfKl Data Science Society and founded as first conference chair (July 2013, Luxemburg) the European Conference on Data Analysis (ECDA); video of ECDA 2013.
1986 she received her Diploma in Psychology, 1990 PhD (Dr. phil.) at the Saarland University with the dissertation: „Modelle der dreimodalen Faktorenanalyse“ [Models of three-mode factor analysis] and 2000 Habilitation in Psychology, Faculty of Philosophy, Saarland University with the dissertation „Kategorien des Persongedächtnisses. Einfluss von Stimulusmerkmalen und Verarbeitungszielen auf ihre Aktivierung“ [Categories of person memory. Influence of stimulus attributes and processing goals on category activation] and received the venia legendi in Psychology.
2007 Professor (W3 position, Chair) in Educational Assessment at the School of Educational and Social Sciences, Bergische Universität Wuppertal, Germany. 2008 offer of the Professorship in Psychological Methods (Chair) at the Faculty of Psychology, University of Vienna (declined).
Sabine Krolak-Schwerdt has published more than 100 scientific papers, her grant proposals received funding by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) and the Fonds National de la Recherche (FNR). Professor Krolak-Schwerdt was an outstanding and international recognised scholar.
We mourn our endearing colleague Sabine. We will miss her. We hope that we can successfully continue and develop her legacy of the European Association for Data Science (EuADS) and the European Conferences on Data Analysis (ECDA).
